Types of Information Technology

Information technology is information related technology. On the other hand, communication technology is data communication technology. And the technology that validates the authenticity and validity of information collection, conservation, processing, modernization, transportation, distribution, and information is called information technology. Again, the technology has a close relationship with the communication system. One can’t think of the other.

 

 

Information and communication technology is affecting all areas of human life. There is no field in human daily life where information and communication technology is not applied. Nowadays, wherever people are, they need it easily through information and communication technology.

 

Elements of Information and Communication Technology:

The basic elements of information and communication technology are –

 

(A) Computer

(b) Telephone

(c) Modem

(d) Microwave etc

 

Types of Information and Communication Technology: Information and communication technology can be of different types depending on the field of application. Such as:

 

1. Computing and Information Systems: Powerful electronic data processing where computers, smart intelligence and export systems are used which are covered by ICT.

2. Broadcasting: Radio, television which broadcasts simplex information is covered by ICT.

3. Telecommunication: Fixed telephone mobiles or cellphones that provide full duplex data communication are covered by ICT.

4. Internet: The Internet is an international computer network developed in WAN (Wide Area Network) technology. Through which one can communicate with any place in the world from anywhere, which is covered by ICT.

 

Again the basic elements of communication technology are:

 

(1) computer

(2) telephone

(3) mobile

(4) internet

(5) e-mail

(6) satellite

(7) radio wave etc.

 

In order for data to be communicated, the communicating device must be part of the communication system, which is a combination of hardware and software.

 

 

The effectiveness of a data communication system depends on four basic features.

 

1. Delivery

2. Accuracy (appropriate)

3. Timeliness

4. Jitter (interval).

 

Delivery: The system must deliver the data to reach a specific destination. Receiving will inevitably receive data from the device or user.

 

Accuracy: The system must deliver the data properly. It changes to data transmission (e.g. signal) but becomes inappropriate for using inaccurate data.

 

Timeliness: The communication system always delivers the data in a timely manner. If the data is delivered late for any reason, then the data cannot be made usable.

 

Jitter: The variation of the time it takes for the data packet to reach its destination is called Jitter.
